Phillip Vines will travel with the agronomists from the Northeast Region. Phillip is pursuing a doctorate degree in plant breeding and genomics. Dr. Stacy Bonos serves as his advisor.

Phillip was uncertain as to what career path he would choose until he obtained a summer job at his hometown golf course, Dancing Rabbit Golf Club (Philadelphia, Mississippi), initially just wanting to enjoy the free golfing privileges. By the end of that summer, and with the guidance of the golf course superintendent, he decided to enroll in the turfgrass management program at Mississippi State University. Phillip would go on to receive a BS in Agronomy and a MS degree in Plant Pathology from Mississippi State.

After finishing his doctorate degree later this year, Phillip plans to direct his future research efforts toward a meaningful aspect of the golf course industry.
